Masako in Velvia
broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
count your blessings.

i sigh. not one more
it's been a bad day.
please don't take a picture

So many photos and photoblogs I see on the web have great pictures, but the one thing they all seem to have in common (at least from my perspective) is that the images are all things the photographer might have "stumbled upon". Sure there is something to be said for being able to spot a nice scene when you find it, but the great thing about your photos is that they all looked so well composed, that they appear staged, or as if you found a place you wanted to be, and waited for the photo to come to you, as opposed to myself, who is always moving and trying to find what there is to take a picture of at the moment I arrive, then I move on.
On the other hand, your pictures are all natural and "everyday" enough, that I wonder if maybe you did just happen to walk into a room see Masako standing against that great background, with a great meloncholly look, as opposed to seeing a great wall and perfect light conditions, and asking her to pose there.
Another example is the photo of the spilled paper cup on the street a wihle back. It was taken at just the right time, and the composition and everything looks so delibereate... I am left wondering if you saw it earlier in the day and waited for it to get dark, came back later when it was dark, or just happened to be walking by in those exact conditions.
Either way, there all a great shots.
