Well I'm glad to say that we had a very eventful day. The day started early with our bi-monthly visit to Aiku Hospital. We got to the hospital at 8:45 and was able to leave a little after 10:30 so it was not as bad a wait as 2 weeks ago. Baby is facing the right way and all systems go. We only get an ultrasound done every second visit but today sensei gave us a "service ultrasound" very quickly. We saw a side angle of baby's head and the doctor remarded that the baby seemed to have a highter nose, (like her dad). Next week we will discuss the delivery date with the doctor.

Then it was off to the MATRIX Reloaded. Masako got us great center seats in the largest theater they had. How did I like the movie?, well I liked it fine but I'm still going to have to see it one more time to form a solid opinion on it. I'm sure glad I was told to stay till the end of the credits for the Revolutions preview.

And I finished the day over a few pints discussing digi-cams with Marcel. Marcel owns the CyberShot F707, which is the same camera I am getting from my dad. I have been looking at getting a compact camera that I can carry with me where ever I go. The list has come down to the Sony DSC-V1 and the new not yet realeased Canon Powershot G5. They both have 5 Mega Pixals, I have a 2MP sony now but I've read a lot of good things about the Powershot G3 so I thought it might be worth waiting for the G5.

As for the site, you will see many changes going on especially with the lay out of photos within the blog. Right now i am just experimenting with some styles and will be changing this every few days so please give me your feed back.

thanks!

interesting, our hospital, Naoko was able to get an ultrasound for every visit. I guess it's not surpriseing this things are not standardized, but still... at any rate, great news that the baby is facing the right way. our's didn't, and never did turnaround. was just another anxiety to add on top of all the others.

on the photos, i have to say i don't like this style, only because it's being used a lot these days, the "Hunkabutta" style as it were. oh, and yeah, i'm thinking of that new G5 too....although the G3's should drop in price soon. whatever you get, get it before the baby arrives. you'll need it for documenting that new wonder, and trust me, it'll be a lot easier to justify now rather than after the baby is born!

I would have thought that an ultrasound at every visit would have been standard this late in a pregnancy but that might change in the next few weeks. I guess you can call me on the "Hunkabutta" style... i enjoy the style I used for my posting yesterday. I want to post multiple photos in each article but not just plain old resized thumbnails. As for the G5, I spoke with a salesman at Sakuraya and he never even heard of the G5! Does anyone know the G5 availability here in Japan? Doesn't sound like it has been announced yet. I was tring to convince my wife to buy the Canon EOS 10D but I was pushing my luck...

yeah, i like that style too, use something similar when posting a lot of pics from the cellphone, although they don't link to anything.

oh and btw, on the ultrasound thing, on the bright side, you could be paying $200 - $300 per ultrasound in the U.S. (which is only done twice or so throughout the entire pregnancy, probably because of this cost). wrote about this here: http://www.easterwood.org/hmmn/archives/000238.html#000238

WOW, that would get expensive. Right now we pay around 15,000 yen/visit when Masako gets and ultrasound done. Back in Canada I don't think parents to be are charged at all for these types of services. Although the cost of giving birth in Canada is a far cry from what we will be paying here I have been told Canadians do have to pay something for the hospital stay and some treatments. And about not wanting to know babys sex, I could not argree with you more. My wife and wifes familly decided that they wanted to know so I didn't feel I had the choice, thinking that we might have a boy while Masako is painting the nursery pink...

I personally prefer the 'Hunkabutta' style, if only because it stretches across the entire table cell and creates an even, full look.

Cheers,
